John 1:4-5 NIV In him [Jesus] was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Light drives out darkness, heat drives out cold, love drives out hatred. The most powerful force in the universe is God's love. It has the power to heal any hurt, mend any broken bond, restore any lost soul, fill any heart, overshadow any longing, overcome any weakness, and drive out any sin. God's love is unfathomable. The creator of the universe loves us so much that he sent his only son to die for us, and the reason why is even more unfathomable. He wants to live with us. The creator of the universe wants to live in the same place as you and me. He wants to walk and talk with us. He wants to meet every need and heal every pain. John gave us a preview of this in Revelation 21:2-4 NIV "I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." And what's even more amazing is that Jesus, the very person that took the punishment for our sin and suffered in our place, is speaking on our behalf before the creator God to ensure this future reality. Romans 8:31-34 LEB "What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 Indeed, he who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all, how will he not also, together with him, freely give us all things? 33 Who will bring charges against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies. 34 Who is the one who condemns? Christ is the one who died, and more than that, who was raised, who is also at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us." There is nothing more powerful than this.

Through his word, the incredibly powerful light of God's love can be seen beaming out of him. Step into that light, and let it transform you. Psalm 119:135 LEB "Shine your face on your servant, and teach me your statutes." 2 Corinthians 3:18 RSV "And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being changed into his likeness from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit." Let his love drive out the dark. When you focus on God's love for you and how intense it is, you will want to protect that relationship. You won't want anything to come between you and him, because you will be convinced that it is the most valuable thing that you possess.

How much do you reflect on God's love for you? What in your life is a danger to your relationship with him?
